The World Competitiveness Yearbook, ranking the world’s top 60 countries on the basis of available information, has just pronounced that SA’s ranking has fallen by 3 places from 50th to 53rd. Sadly they charge R7000 for the report so I won’t be downloading it in a hurry! Each country is measured on 327 distinct qualitative and quantitative criteria.
The Global Competitiveness report is different. It compares 144 countries on about 130 criteria and is downloadable free. The 2013/2014 version is due out in September.
Below is where we did best and worst, comparing 2013 with 2009.
